Hospital Environment & Case Exposure
The Thurmaston hospital supports both internal and external clinics for out-of-hours care, giving you access to a varied ECC caseload — from urgent consultations to surgical interventions.
The recently refurbished hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostics and surgical tools, including orthopaedic instrumentation, digital and dental imaging, endoscopy, tonometry, and high-resolution ultrasound. You’ll work alongside an experienced registered veterinary nurse and a veterinary care assistant, allowing you to stay focused on decision-making and patient management.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this weekend ECC role, you will:
- Provide emergency consultations and stabilisation care
- Perform urgent surgical and medical interventions
- Manage inpatient monitoring and treatment planning
- Communicate clearly with clients during high-pressure situations
- Maintain strong clinical and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with your support team to deliver efficient care
- This role is suited to vets who enjoy autonomy, rapid decision-making, and varied emergency presentations.
Working Pattern
- 1 in 4 weekends
- Saturday & Sunday: 9am–7pm

About You
You are a qualified MRCVS vet with solid sole-charge experience and a strong interest in emergency and critical care. You thrive in fast-paced clinical environments, communicate calmly under pressure, and enjoy being part of a supportive hospital team.
