Role Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) practitioner to join a specialist Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service. This service supports individuals who are experiencing, or at risk of developing, psychosis, offering early therapeutic intervention to improve long-term outcomes.
As a Band 7 CBT Therapist, you will provide structured psychological therapies within a recovery-focused, multidisciplinary team. The role is primarily Monday to Friday (9am–5pm) and involves both clinic-based and community work.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
Deliver evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for psychosis (CBTp)
Carry out comprehensive assessments and formulate personalised care plans
Manage clinical risk, including self-harm and safeguarding concerns
Work collaboratively with service users, carers, and professionals to support recovery
Provide therapy sessions in community settings and NHS facilities
Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and clinical decision-making

The Early Intervention in Psychosis programme is a nationally recognised initiative designed to provide timely, specialist care. You will be working alongside psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, and allied health professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Essential Requirements
Professional Qualifications
- Accreditation or registration with British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
AND
Registration with a recognised UK regulatory body such as:
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
General Medical Council (GMC)
Social Work England
Alternatively, candidates with an approved BABCP KSA portfolio may be considered.
Experience
Delivering CBT interventions across a range of mental health conditions
Working with individuals experiencing psychosis, trauma, anxiety, or depression
Conducting risk assessments and managing complex cases
Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of evidence-based psychological therapies
Awareness of safeguarding and clinical governance
Sensitivity to cultural diversity, inclusion, and accessibility barriers
Effective communication and therapeutic engagement skills
Training Requirement
Applicants must demonstrate training in CBT for Psychosis (CBTp), or a clear commitment to undertake and complete this training within an agreed timeframe.
