Job Description
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) to join the dedicated night team at the Barnsley hospital.
This role is ideal for clinicians who enjoy working in fast-paced emergency environments where every shift offers varied and rewarding clinical cases. The night team works closely with the daytime first-opinion and referral services, ensuring strong clinical support and continuity of care for patients.
The hospital provides affordable out-of-hours veterinary services, helping pet owners access urgent care when it matters most.
About the Hospital
The Barnsley facility is a modern veterinary hospital designed to support high-quality clinical care. Key features include:
- 10 fully equipped consultation rooms
- Four operating theatres
- Diagnostic imaging including X-ray and dental suites
- Separate wards for dogs and cats to reduce stress during recovery
- A varied caseload covering medical, surgical and orthopaedic cases
A nurse-led night care model has recently been introduced, ensuring stable patients are monitored overnight and receive attentive post-treatment care while recovering comfortably.
About the Organisation
Animal Trust operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC), meaning its primary mission is improving access to veterinary care rather than generating profit.
The organisation’s purpose is to ensure that pets receive treatment when viable options exist, regardless of an owner’s financial circumstances. Through transparent pricing and free consultations, the organisation works to reduce barriers that often prevent animals from receiving necessary care.
