January 23, 2026

Job Description

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join our 24-hour veterinary hospital in Kensington, right at the heart of one of London’s most vibrant and accessible neighbourhoods. Our hospital supports a wide-ranging caseload — from everyday consultations to high-intensity emergency and critical care — offering experienced vets the clinical depth and autonomy they’re looking for.

If you’re a confident Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys owning cases end-to-end and working in a well-resourced, collaborative environment, this role offers both professional challenge and real career substance.

Why this role stands out

You’ll be trusted to practise medicine the way it should be practised — thoughtfully, thoroughly, and with the support of an experienced nursing team and modern diagnostic facilities.

Your day-to-day work may include:

  • Advanced diagnostics and inpatient case management
  • Front-of-house consulting with engaged clients
  • Emergency and critical care exposure
  • Opportunities to develop interests such as abdominal imaging, ECC, or minimally invasive procedures

We also provide access to CT, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, orthopaedics, and other advanced capabilities. While occasional exotic cases do arise, prior experience isn’t essential.

Who this role is for

This position is designed for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 5 years’ UK experience who:

  • Is confident working independently while valuing teamwork
  • Enjoys clinical responsibility and decision-making autonomy
  • Communicates clearly and compassionately with clients
  • Wants long-term growth, not just a rota slot

You must be MRCVS registered and eligible to work in the UK in line with professional and immigration regulations set out by the UK government

Working pattern

  • 40 hours per week
  • 1 in 6 weekends
  • Supported by a strong out-of-hours and nursing structure

All working arrangements comply with UK employment standards

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care in consultations, surgery, and inpatient settings
  • Create and explain tailored treatment plans with clarity and empathy
  • Work closely with vets, nurses, and support teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the development of colleagues across the Medivet community
