We are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust during an important period of service transition and development.
This role offers the chance to play a pivotal leadership role, helping to maintain high-quality, safe, and compassionate mental health care while shaping services for the future. You will provide senior clinical oversight across a range of adult mental health pathways, supporting both patients and multidisciplinary teams through complexity and change.
To recognise the expertise and commitment this role requires, we are pleased to offer a £30,000 Golden Hello, payable in staged instalments over a two-year period (terms and conditions apply).
What You’ll Be Doing
- As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will focus on delivering expert clinical leadership and supporting teams working with people experiencing the most complex and severe mental health needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing consultant-level oversight across services such as inpatient care, crisis resolution and home treatment, recovery services, early intervention in psychosis, and adult community mental health teams
- Holding a small, complex caseload, allowing you to respond flexibly and decisively to the needs of the most unwell or high-risk individuals
- Developing clear psychiatric formulations using a biopsychosocial approach
- Supporting high-quality, evidence-based, recovery-focused care across the MDT
- Leading on risk assessment, risk management, and safeguarding in line with Trust policies
- Working collaboratively with carers, ward teams, and community services
- Providing supervision, education, and clinical leadership through MDT and triage meetings
- Maintaining a strong focus on patient outcomes, experience, and service quality

Essential Qualifications & Registration
To be considered, you must have:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MRCPsych or recognised equivalent qualification
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry, or within 12 months of completion at interview
- Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register
- Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act
