System Safety Engineer – UK Safety Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced System Safety Engineer to join our UK Safety Team.

In this role, you will play a key part in bringing our industry-leading Avionics and Power products to market. You will lead and perform system safety assessments across a variety of projects, develop and execute innovative development strategies, and become a recognized expert within the field. This role will allow you to demonstrate your passion for system design and provide mentorship to others.

As part of a small, dynamic team of specialists at different stages in their careers, your work will be diverse, keeping your interest ignited. You’ll also have the opportunity to help grow the safety team’s capabilities and foster a culture of safety engagement across the organization, emphasizing shared responsibility for achieving safe designs.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • You are an experienced safety engineer with a background in aviation safety.
  • You hold a degree in Engineering or possess an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • You have knowledge of civil certification requirements (e.g. 14CFR-25, CS-25, 14CFR-35, and CS-P) and direct experience with System Safety engineering tasks using international standards such as SAE International ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, and DEF STAN 00-56.
  • You have the ability to conduct detailed Safety analyses of complex systems, including Fault Tree Analysis, Common Mode Analysis, and generating Safety Requirements to drive design changes for meeting safety objectives.
  • You have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the confidence to present to senior stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about guiding, influencing, and developing future talent.

Desired Characteristics

  • While not essential, the following skills and knowledge would be advantageous:
  • Familiarity with ARP 4754, RTCA DO-178B/C, and DO-254.
  • Knowledge of processes leading to compliance with industry regulatory standards.
  • Experience performing reliability analyses, Prediction, and FMEA on electronic/electrical systems.
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals and System Safety principles to a variety of product areas.
