Support Engineer – GE Aviation Wales

The successful candidate will join the GE Aviation Wales Engineering team in a Support Engineer role. This position is primarily office-based but requires significant time spent on the shop floor collaborating with maintenance technicians. Responsibilities range from providing day-to-day technical support to the maintenance team to engaging in long-term engineering projects, either as part of a team or independently. The role offers exposure to hardware from the GE90 and CFM56 product lines. The candidate will need to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. This position requires close collaboration with other departments such as operations, planning, quality, sourcing, and EH&S.

This role involves shift work.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide daily technical support to shop floor maintenance technicians.

Compile technical documentation to support engine and component maintenance.

Develop local policies to comply with regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures within the engineering team.

Review and vet engine manuals and other OEM/customer-provided technical data.

Participate in engineering projects focused on reducing maintenance costs and improving engine/component turnaround time (TAT) through lean principles.

Implement the digitization of engineering processes.

Required Qualifications:

MEng, BEng, MSc, or BSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.

Relevant experience in an engineering role, with internship or trainee time considered applicable.

Desired Characteristics:

Ability to produce concise and accurate engineering documentation.

Competence in interpreting OEM technical publications such as engine manuals and Service Bulletins.

Effective teamwork skills in a cross-functional environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to influence others effectively.

Additional Information:

The position will require shift work, including days, afternoons, and 1 in 3 weekends.
