Flexible Working: We are excited to offer a flexible and hybrid working model that enables you to balance your work and personal life. You will be based at Lingley Mere, Warrington, with the possibility of travel to other locations as required by the business. Office or site attendance will be expected a minimum of 3 days per week.

United Utilities is looking for Project Engineers/Design Managers to support our Capital Delivery projects and help us achieve our ambitious goals in North West England.

As a Project Engineer/Design Manager, you will be a key player in delivering engineering solutions for a variety of projects within our Capital Delivery programme. You will collaborate with delivery teams and Project Managers, gaining insights into our major contracts and working with our biggest industry partners. Your expertise will help address engineering challenges unique to our sector and influence key aspects of our capital programme, contributing directly to our success.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with project stakeholders to drive successful engineering outcomes.
  • Champion innovative engineering solutions to enhance project quality and promote continuous improvement.
  • Use your expertise to influence project direction and ensure engineering considerations are integrated into team decisions.
  • Proactively manage project risks and performance to optimize resource use and stay within budget.
  • Present business cases with confidence, playing a key role in corporate governance processes.

Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to meet the following essential criteria:

  • A relevant engineering qualification (e.g., HNC or higher) or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Experience providing technical advice and leading successful engineering projects.
  • A valid UK/EU driving licence, with the ability to travel to sites or client premises.
