We are excited to grow our team as we expand our Stroke Services to cover patients across Dorset and Somerset. This includes the exciting launch of a brand-new Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU).
We are looking for dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurses who are eager to make a meaningful impact during some of the most critical times in a person’s life.
Join our dynamic, forward-thinking team providing top-tier, time-sensitive stroke care throughout the entire patient journey from hyper-acute emergency response, through acute care, to early rehabilitation.
In this role, you’ll deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to individuals with complex neurological conditions. You’ll collaborate closely with Stroke Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Therapists, and the full multidisciplinary team (MDT) to guide patients and their families through challenging and emotional experiences.
We are seeking nurses who:
- Have a genuine passion for stroke care
- Thrive in busy, fast-moving clinical settings
- Are enthusiastic about building expertise in areas like
- NIHSS assessment, thrombolysis and thrombectomy
- pathways, dysphagia screening, and detailed neurological examinations
- Are driven to contribute to a developing service that’s innovating and enhancing patient outcomes across two counties
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing excellent nursing care for patients presenting with acute and hyper-acute stroke
- Performing regular neurological observations, NIHSS scoring, and timely escalation when needed
- Monitoring patients following thrombolysis and supporting safe early mobilisation
- Partnering with the MDT to create and implement tailored rehabilitation plans
- Communicating with empathy and sensitivity to patients and loved ones in difficult circumstances
- Helping shape and improve the service as we establish our new HASU
