Position: Charity Support Worker/Religious Worker
As a Charity Support Worker/Religious Worker, your primary responsibility will be collecting and distributing surplus food to homeless individuals and families in need. Your role is essential in combating food insecurity and providing vital nourishment to those who are struggling.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with local businesses, supermarkets, and food suppliers to gather surplus food donations.
- Manage the logistics of food collection, ensuring it is done in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform quality checks on donated food to ensure it meets safety and hygiene standards.
- Sort and categorize food items for efficient distribution, considering nutritional value and dietary needs.
- Work closely with community centers, shelters, and local charities to identify the needs of homeless individuals and families.
- Organize and plan food distribution schedules to maximize outreach and impact.
- Build positive relationships with community members, shelters, and other support organizations.
- Raise awareness about the charity’s mission and initiatives, encouraging community involvement and support.
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with food collection, sorting, and distribution.
- Provide clear instructions and guidelines to volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records of food donations, including quantities, types of items, and expiration dates.
- Generate regular reports to track the impact of the food distribution program and share with stakeholders.
- Stay informed about health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for workers and recipients.
- Collaborate with local government agencies, charities, and food banks to enhance the effectiveness of food distribution efforts.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during food handling and distribution.
