Job Description

Location: Frenchay Campus, UWE Bristol
Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year (part-time, flexible hours)
Salary: Grade G – £37,099 to £44,263 pro rata (£18,549–£22,131)
Shift pattern: Predominantly night shifts (7pm–7am), 12-hour shifts with 1-hour unpaid break

UWE Bristol is looking for a dedicated Operations Manager to join our 24/7 Campus Support team—playing a key role in ensuring safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency across our vibrant campuses.

Working closely with two other night Operations Managers and two day Operations Managers, you’ll help create a welcoming and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, coach, and develop your team, encouraging a culture of responsibility, collaboration, and growth.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure prompt and professional responses to security matters, first aid incidents, and emergency situations.
  • Workforce & Resource Planning: Allocate staff and resources to meet service demands across all campus facilities, including the Library and Accommodation Services.
  • Service Strategy: Shape future planning through resource and succession planning, while contributing to wider university initiatives and short-term service projects.
  • Policy & Risk Management: Develop, review and implement risk assessments, procedures, and service policies in consultation with stakeholders.
  • Communication & Reporting: Deliver briefings, lead training sessions, and represent Campus Support in internal and external meetings—including liaising with emergency services.
  • Inclusive Culture: Actively promote equality, diversity, and the University’s core values of ambition, inclusivity, innovation, collaboration, and enterprise.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure a safe working and learning environment in line with UWE’s Health and Safety Policy.

Additional Information

  • This is a part-time annualised hours contract, with a minimum of 962 hours per year. Hours will vary monthly, but pay remains consistent.
  • You will mostly work night shifts, and may occasionally be required to support Open Days and Welcome Week activities.
  • This role requires DBS clearance.
