Job Description
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent Professor position to lead a dynamic research programme in affective, cognitive, developmental, clinical, or applied neuroscience. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research aligns with our strengths in mental health and wellbeing throughout the lifespan. Areas of focus include healthy and pathological ageing, child and adolescent development and psychopathology, nutrition, diet and physical activity, and chronic, neurodevelopmental, and neurodegenerative conditions. We also encourage candidates with interdisciplinary research interests, especially those exploring brain imaging or analysis methods, or those who can leverage the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) unique multimodal human neuroscience capabilities.
This position is available on a full-time (or part-time) permanent basis, starting 1st September 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
- Be internationally recognised for their research in affective, cognitive, developmental, clinical, or applied neuroscience, with a strong record of securing significant grant funding (especially for MRI/fMRI research), publishing high-quality papers, and having plans to further develop their research programme.
- Possess the research and leadership skills appropriate for a senior academic role.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in delivering high-quality, research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, making a positive impact on student outcomes and experiences.
