The Opportunity:
We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join the Scottish Historic Population Platform (SHiPP) project, funded by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and part of the Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research (SCADR). In this role, you will apply your expertise to a groundbreaking project that links large and complex population datasets.
As the project manager for the SHiPP programme, you will coordinate a multi-disciplinary team, oversee the delivery of the project’s outputs, and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, government departments, and agencies. You will also deputise for the Programme Lead and represent SHiPP within the University and to external partners.
The team consists of computer scientists, geographers, historians from the Universities of Edinburgh and St Andrews, as well as practitioners and data experts from government agencies like National Records Scotland.
The funding for this project is secure until March 2026, with potential recommissioning for an additional 5 years expected by the end of 2025.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), though we are open to part-time and flexible working arrangements. Hybrid working (a mix of remote and on-campus work) is also possible on a non-contractual basis.
Salary:
£49,559 to £60,907 per annum
Your Skills and Experience:
- Proven project management and organisational skills, with significant experience managing multi-disciplinary projects involving both internal and external partners.
- Understanding of data protection and legal issues related to the use and access to personal data.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in an uncertain environment, managing risks and benefits when addressing challenges.
- A structured, proactive approach to work, with the ability to multi-task and re-prioritise as necessary.
