Join Our Cancer Research Team – Band 5 Clinical Nurse Opportunity
Are you a passionate and motivated clinical nurse with an interest in research? Ready to take the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity within our Cancer Research Team at the QE site for a Band 5 position.
If you have experience in oncology and cancer therapies, this could be the perfect chance for you to expand your expertise in research.
About the Role: In this role, you will join a dynamic team delivering high-quality research across a variety of commercial and academic studies, ranging from complex interventional trials to observational studies. You’ll gain a deep understanding of trial protocols and research processes, supporting the delivery of a growing research portfolio. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop key skills in communication, organization, time management, and documentation.
Your role will involve administering a range of cancer treatments across different disease areas, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and monoclonal antibody therapies, as part of research trials.

Has a passion for making a difference and enthusiasm for delivering impactful research
Possesses excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
Has experience in oncology and delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)

Key Responsibilities & Skills Required:
Essential Criteria:
Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Recent experience in an acute secondary NHS care setting
Competent in managing a group of patients, including shift management and clinical leadership
Experience working both independently and within a team in a healthcare environment
Competence in a variety of clinical skills and a willingness to expand practices relevant to the role
Evidence of career development and ongoing professional growth
Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate electronic records
Positive and enthusiastic attitude with excellent communication skills
Previous experience in an oncology setting
SACT trained and experienced in delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy
Desirable:
Experience in an oncology research setting
Experience with therapeutic cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy

Qualifications:
Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
Experience:
Recent experience in an acute secondary NHS care setting
Career achievements and professional development evidence
Experience working independently and within a team in healthcare
Willingness to mentor or meet NMC mentorship requirements
Understanding of NMC code of conduct, safeguarding, and mental capacity principles
