Grade 6: £33,482 – £37,174 per annum
Full-time (35 hours per week), Fixed-term (up to 12 months)
We are seeking an experienced marketing professional to join the Adam Smith Business School to lead the design and delivery of targeted marketing strategies that align with the School’s broader goals. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how the School promotes its teaching, research, and engagement with industry.
Working closely with University Services, you’ll provide expert guidance on marketing, insights, and visual identity—ensuring alignment with institutional standards and strategic priorities. You will be responsible for supporting senior academic and administrative colleagues by delivering a full range of marketing services and campaigns that support student recruitment and promote the School’s profile locally and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Marketing Leadership: Develop and lead tailored marketing strategies to support student recruitment, with a particular focus on postgraduate taught programmes, ensuring alignment with the University’s brand identity and wider goals.
- End-to-End Campaign Delivery: Plan and implement comprehensive marketing campaigns across teaching, research, and external engagement, ensuring all activity is delivered within budget and timeline.
- Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and promotional strategies, using data insights to ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in partnership with colleagues across the School and College to ensure marketing activities are coherent, evidence-based, and strategically aligned.
- Brand Stewardship: Champion the University’s brand guidelines within the Business School, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual identity across all platforms and materials.
- Market Research Oversight: Lead the School’s market research efforts by analysing data and trends to provide actionable insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Team Management: Line manage the Student Recruitment and Marketing Officer—setting clear priorities, guiding creative processes, reviewing outputs, and supporting professional development.
- Programme Marketing: Develop and manage marketing strategies for new postgraduate programmes, working to support the School’s student recruitment and diversification efforts.
- Rankings and League Tables: Coordinate the School’s participation in external rankings, working with internal teams to gather data and identify areas for enhancement.
- Global Impact Contribution: Support the University’s strategic ambition to enhance its international reputation, as outlined in the Inspiring People – Changing the World plan.

What We’re Looking For
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven ability to carry out the responsibilities of the role, acquired through prior experience and professional development; or SCQF Level 8/HND (or equivalent) with substantial experience in a similar position.
- Strong knowledge of CRM tools, digital marketing, and customer-focused engagement strategies.
- Solid grounding in modern marketing principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in web content management systems (ideally T4 CMS) and a good understanding of HTML.
Desirable:
- A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or similar.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
- Understanding of student recruitment processes in higher education.
Skills and Attributes
Essential:
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret marketing research to support strategic decisions.
- Creative mindset with strong copywriting and campaign development skills.
- Technical marketing expertise including print production, digital publishing, and agency collaboration.
- Experience managing multiple campaigns and projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Competence in budget management and performance tracking.
- Confidence in presenting ideas to various stakeholders.
- An inclusive approach that recognises the diverse needs of students and colleagues.
- Team-oriented with the ability to build strong relationships across academic and professional service teams.
Experience
Essential:
- Substantial experience in a similar marketing role, ideally in a complex organisation.
- Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating marketing strategies.
- Track record of managing market research projects.
- Extensive experience in web content creation and management.
Desirable:
- Experience working in higher education or with youth-focused brands or audiences.
