  • Grade UE08: £49,559 – £60,907 per annum
  • Full-Time | 35 hours per week
  • Fixed-Term until 31 August 2026

About the Opportunity

The University of Edinburgh’s Department of Psychology is inviting applications for a full-time, fixed-term Lecturer in Psychology (Teaching-Focused) post. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and organisation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a particular emphasis on teaching Differential Psychology—including areas such as personality and intelligence.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an enthusiastic academic with a passion for teaching and the ability to engage students in meaningful, high-quality learning. To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant qualification in Psychology (normally a PhD, or equivalent; applications from candidates nearing completion will be considered).
  • Evidence of effective undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development or course design.
  • Evidence of research and publication activities appropriate to your career stage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver and manage teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Support students with supervision, guidance, and academic mentorship.
  • Contribute to course development, assessment design, and the continuous enhancement of teaching quality.
  • Offer dissertation projects to UG and/or PG students (three project ideas required as part of your application).
  • Participate in departmental activities and meetings as required.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a teaching demonstration and take part in departmental meetings as part of the recruitment process.
