The University of Reading is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Student Welfare Advisor to join our Student Welfare Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing one-to-one support, advice, and guidance to students facing a range of personal difficulties that may affect their academic progress and wellbeing.
About the Role
As part of the Student Welfare Team, you will:
- Offer practical advice, emotional support, and signposting for students dealing with personal, emotional, or mental health issues.
- Work closely with academic tutors, Support Centre staff, and other professionals across the University to ensure a joined-up approach to student support.
- Help students manage their challenges while promoting independence and resilience.
- Contribute to a responsive and student-focused service that enhances the overall student experience.

About You
You will bring:
- Experience of providing welfare or mental health support to young people aged 16+ in an educational or related setting.
- A genuine motivation to help others, empowering students to navigate personal challenges and make informed decisions.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
- An understanding of the importance of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and collaborative working.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
