The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies (CEB) at Aston University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Biochemical Engineering / Biotechnology to join our dynamic and forward-thinking academic community.
As part of the School of Engineering and Innovation within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, this is a key role for those looking to contribute to both research and teaching excellence in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Department
CEB is renowned for producing high-impact research and outstanding graduates who are highly sought after by employers. Our department maintains a close, interdisciplinary relationship with chemistry, enhancing both our teaching and research portfolio. - The Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI): A state-of-the-art research centre focusing on biomass, bioenergy, biotechnology, and catalysis.
- The Aston Institute for Membrane Excellence (AIME): Delivering world-leading, multidisciplinary research in membrane science, bioinspired materials, sustainable polymers, and structural biology.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants who hold a first degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Industrial Biotechnology. The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate strong potential to publish in internationally recognised journals
- Show the ability to secure external research funding
- Be capable of delivering high-quality teaching across our BEng, MEng, and MSc programmes
We are particularly interested in individuals who can teach subjects such as:
- Bioprocess engineering
- Downstream bioprocessing
- Biocatalysis
- Biopharmaceutical manufacturing
- Environmental and/or industrial biotechnology
- Bioinformatics
- Biomaterials
