Hours: Full-time or part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE, up to 1.0 FTE / 37.5 hours per week). At least 50% on campus.
Salary: Grade 7 — starting from £38,249 to £45,413 per annum, pro rata for part-time.

Research Manager – Science and Engineering

We’re pleased to invite applications for a new Research Manager role within our dynamic and evolving research professional services team.

In this key position, you will lead on professional services support for research culture, environment, and impact across the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine — shaping how we prepare for REF 2028 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership to professional services colleagues.
  • Champion and embed a positive research culture across the faculty.
  • Design and deliver local best-practice processes for research culture, REF, KEF, and other assessments.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to develop impact literacy and foster research excellence.
  • Oversee public engagement strategy and activities.
  • Act as deputy to the Senior Research Manager for Science and Engineering.
