About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, technically skilled individual to lead a small task force supporting Health & Safety compliance and management in our laboratories and specialist facilities.
Working closely with central and school-based Health & Safety managers, academic staff, and technical teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring that lab environments are safe and compliant—particularly with the handling and control of hazardous substances under COSHH and DSEAR regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Updating chemical inventories and supporting hazardous materials compliance
- Scheduling contractors and coordinating minor lab works
- Maintaining action logs and supporting inspections
- Contributing to Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments
- Assisting in health and safety monitoring activities
While full training will be provided in H&S regulations, prior experience working with hazardous chemicals or related training is highly desirable.
About You
You are detail-oriented, organised, and passionate about laboratory safety. With a solid grounding in lab practices and hands-on experience handling hazardous substances, you are familiar with compliance requirements such as COSHH and DSEAR. You’re confident supporting others, promoting a culture of safety, and maintaining high standards across technical spaces.
A strong communicator and problem-solver, you enjoy working collaboratively and independently, managing your workload efficiently while engaging effectively with a range of stakeholders.
