JOB SUMMARY

 

The Facilities & Maintenance mechanic assists with the planned and reactive maintenance of site plant and equipment.

Job Description.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritise reactive maintenance activities and respond accordingly, working with line management and the site’s CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
  • Perform planned maintenance tasks on site plant and equipment in compliance with the preventative maintenance schedules and CMMS.
  • Identify and diagnose issues on site plant and equipment, using technical drawings, manuals, and PLC/CNC programs as needed.
  • Fault finding at the component level.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of site-specific project activities.
  • Relocate plant and equipment as needed.
  • Use and utilisation of site-powered vehicles.
  • Adhere to safe work procedures, such as the site’s LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance for F&M apprentice mechanics.
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance office, order breakdown parts or spares and provide specific details as needed.
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers as necessary.
  • Provide temporary Lead Mechanic cover when necessary. Conduct statutory inspections of plant and machinery.

Qualification and Requirements:

The candidates:

  • Must have completed a certified mechanical engineering apprenticeship (trade papers necessary).
  • Can display strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Can read and comprehend technical drawings and manuals.
  • Has the ability to operate collaboratively or alone.
  • Can manage several workloads and priorities to satisfy corporate needs in a fast-paced and diversified workplace.
  • Must be computer proficient with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must have recent mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • A thorough understanding of mechanical systems.
