Job Vacancy: Band 5 Nurse – General Surgery & Gastroenterology at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic team in General Surgery & Gastroenterology at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. We are looking for a Band 5 nurse to help care for acutely unwell surgical patients. While a basic understanding of surgical and orthopaedic care is preferred, it is not essential.

As a Band 5 nurse, you will be expected to demonstrate clinical and professional expertise while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will provide care for a diverse range of surgical and orthopaedic patients throughout the day, conducting nurse-led assessments and identifying deteriorating patients. Due to the fluctuating acuity of patients, effective prioritization of tasks will be crucial to ensure both your safety and that of your patients.

In addition to direct patient care, you will support patients preparing for surgery and assist with their care prior to the operation. You will also play a role in facilitating safe patient discharges and ensuring proper planning for hospital admissions when necessary.
