JOB SUMMARY

 

We are looking for a highly motivated full-time Porter to join our Portering Service and work across university campuses.

The Portering team, as part of the Estates department, plays an important role in providing service excellence to the University community, visitors, and guests by ensuring our campuses function and are fit for purpose to support the University’s day-to-day operations. This includes a wide range of responsibilities such as small office relocation, collecting exam papers, building security and assisting with big university events such as open days, graduation and external conferences. To ensure service continuity, the team collaborates closely with other Estates teams, including Building Support, Cleaning, and Security.

You’ll have:

– A modern, completely clean United Kingdom As part of your job, you must have a driver’s license and be willing to drive company vehicles such as large transit and tail lift trucks.

– Recent experience working in a customer-centric, fast-paced, dynamic setting.

– Knowledge and experience with heavy lifting procedures and the use of equipment to aid them, as well as awareness of Health and Safety standards and protocols.

– Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule: Week 1 07.30 – 15.00, Week 2 14.00 – 22.00.

– IT literacy, with knowledge and experience with MS Office and a willingness to use technology as part of the position.

– A willingness to work flexible hours on a variety of projects, as well as the ability to take initiative and prioritise work.

– Experience working in a team/team play.

– Excellent grasp of English.

– Good literacy and numeracy skills.

– Good overall health.

– Willing and able to work overtime as needed.
