We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Publisher to join our ambitious team to advance a portfolio of journals in the life, earth, and biomedical sciences team, with a primary concentration on geosciences or public health.

About the role
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic professional to help Cambridge University Press & Assessment improve the profitability, quality, and impact of its academic publications by managing, strategically developing, and expanding a portfolio of journals. We’re seeking for an experienced applicant that can establish strong networks with both internal and external stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with editors-in-chief, society partners, and internal departments, serving as the primary point of contact for a group of publications. You will also use your networks and topic knowledge to look for new partnerships or journals in specific areas.
The primary responsibilities will include:
- Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of periodicals, some of which are owned by societies.
- Creating and utilising a network of connections in the relevant communities to explore prospects for new partnerships or journal releases.
- Developing and implementing journal strategies in accordance with the overall STM journal strategy.
- Supporting partner societies and editorial board members.
- Attending scientific conferences and editorial board meetings to represent Cambridge University Press and your journals as needed.
- Liaise with internal colleagues such as those working in Production, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Technology, and other areas as needed.
About You
Do you have any experience working in STM journals, especially in geosciences or public health? If so, you might be a good fit for this role. We’re searching for someone to manage and create a portfolio, leveraging your knowledge of major industry trends to make a significant contribution to your journals. This work necessitates strong relationship management abilities because you will be interacting with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. As a result, you must be comfortable working on numerous competing tasks and be able to take responsibility for your own prioritising. You will also need to be a great communicator in order to distil and distribute complicated concepts to our partners.
It would be beneficial if you have an academic background or job experience in geosciences or public health, or if you can demonstrate the ability to form strong networks. We are also searching for a candidate who can assist extend our journal offering, both through new launches and new partnerships with societies; expertise working on well-evidenced journal proposals would be beneficial.
