About the Role
Join one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals and make a real difference in the lives of critically ill children and their families. Our 17-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) cares for patients from newborns to 18-year-olds, handling the most complex and serious cases as a major tertiary referral centre.
We specialise in Level 3 intensive care and high-dependency patients across specialties such as neurology, metabolic disorders, oncology, respiratory conditions, genetics, and complex post-surgical recovery. Children arrive through dedicated specialist transport teams, from ward emergencies, or directly after major operations. As the regional hub for metabolic medicine and neurosurgery in North Thames, we regularly manage some of the most challenging paediatric cases—offering you unparalleled exposure to advanced critical care.
This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to build specialist skills in a supportive, collaborative environment. New team members benefit from a comprehensive foundation programme featuring nine dedicated study days focused on core areas like respiratory, cardiac, and neurological care. With over 120 dedicated staff, our unit fosters a friendly, sociable atmosphere where everyone supports each other’s growth, wellbeing, and professional development.
If you’re passionate about paediatric intensive care and eager to develop in a renowned specialist children’s hospital, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Please note: This position is not suitable for newly qualified nurses. If you’ve applied in the last 3 months, we kindly ask you not to reapply at this time.
