Are you a dedicated Registered Nurse (RGN) — whether newly qualified or with some solid hospital experience — ready to make a real difference in patient care?

At Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, our nurses are truly at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for compassionate, skilled professionals to join our integrated team at Yeovil District Hospital, specifically in our medical wards.

This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to grow your career in a supportive, collaborative environment. As a fully integrated Trust, we encourage rotation across different sites and specialties (if you’re interested), helping you build a wide range of skills and experience. We see our people as our most valuable asset and invest heavily in your development.

What You will be Doing

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based, and truly patient-centered care every day.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, involving patients and their families/carers in decisions, in line with our commitment to patient and public involvement.
  • Build strong interpersonal relationships and continue developing your specialist practical skills.
  • For those with more experience at Band 5 level, step up to provide clinical and managerial leadership when senior team members are away, empowering colleagues to deliver excellent care.

Who we’re Looking For

Essential

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Nursing and active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Previous experience in a relevant clinical/hospital setting.
  • Solid understanding of current nursing practices and national guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, a genuine team spirit, and the ability to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

Desirable

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience supervising students or junior staff.

Why join us at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust?

We genuinely care about your wellbeing and career progression. You’ll enjoy:

  • Flexible working patterns to help you balance life and work.
  • The NHS pension scheme for your future security.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Prioritised training and development opportunities.
  • Access to the Blue Light Card for great discounts on shopping, dining, travel, and more — plus other NHS perks.

We’re proud of our diverse and inclusive workforce and warmly welcome applications from everyone.
