About the Role
The University of Reading is seeking a talented and motivated Communications Officer to join the Student Communications Team within the Student Success and Engagement Division. This is a full-time, permanent position based at the University’s award-winning Whiteknights Campus in Reading.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and organised communications professional to play a key role in engaging and supporting our diverse student community. You will help deliver clear, engaging, and inclusive digital communications across multiple student channels, ensuring that every student feels informed, connected, and supported throughout their University journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of digital communications across student-facing platforms, including the student website, portal, app, and social media channels.
- Manage and deliver digital campaigns to support key student initiatives and university priorities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Student Services and other departments to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
- Work with student ambassadors to create engaging content that amplifies the student voice and reflects the diversity of the University community.
- Monitor campaign performance and student engagement, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Uphold the University’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion through thoughtful and representative communication.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a flair for digital storytelling.
- Proven experience managing digital content and campaigns across multiple channels.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity and attention to detail, with an understanding of audience engagement principles.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work with a range of stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working in higher education or a large, complex organisation.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), digital analytics tools, or social media management platforms.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices.

- Salary: £31,236 – £35,608 per annum
