Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and lead teaching in areas related to finance and investment for sustainable, low-carbon buildings.
  • Develop new teaching modules on economic instruments, funding mechanisms, and financial models supporting the transition to net-zero and healthy buildings.
  • Teach students to assess cost-benefit, life-cycle, and health economics impacts of building design and retrofit strategies.
  • Integrate big data analysis and well-being metrics into financial decision-making frameworks for the built environment.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching across programmes such as the BSc/MEng Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources.
  • Support students in developing the critical and analytical skills needed to address complex sustainability challenges.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and institutes to promote innovative and inclusive teaching practice.
  • Undertake associated administrative, pastoral, and quality assurance duties.

About You

You will have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent qualification/experience) in a relevant field, such as finance, economics, sustainability, energy systems, or the built environment.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, investment modelling, or sustainable finance, with applications to net-zero, building design, or urban sustainability.
  • Experience in designing and delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching in higher education.
  • The ability to connect financial theory with environmental and social outcomes, linking sustainability, health, and well-being in the built environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interdisciplinary engagement skills.
  • A commitment to student development and to advancing teaching innovation within UCL’s world-leading academic environment.
  • A Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent professional experience in teaching and learning is desirable.
