Wiltshire Council is looking for a motivated and compassionate Newly Qualified Social Worker to join its Advice & Contact Team in Trowbridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified professional to build practical experience within a supportive social work environment while completing the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). You will work alongside experienced colleagues, develop your professional skills and contribute directly to helping people in the local community remain safe, independent and connected to the right services.
The position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis with hybrid working arrangements.
The Role
As part of the Advice & Contact Team, you will be involved in the early stages of supporting people who may require social care or safeguarding assistance.
Your work will include:
– Holding strength-based First Conversations with customers to understand their circumstances, needs and goals.
– Helping individuals identify appropriate services and sources of support.
– Reviewing new referrals and determining the appropriate response.
– Screening safeguarding concerns and identifying potential risks.
– Completing appropriate safeguarding risk assessments.
– Contributing to decisions around safeguarding referrals.
– Applying your knowledge of social work practice to promote independence and wellbeing.
– Working collaboratively with colleagues and other relevant services.
– Maintaining clear, accurate and professional records.
– Communicating effectively with individuals, families and professionals.

What You’ll Need
To be considered for this position, you should be a newly qualified social worker with the relevant knowledge and professional registration required to practise in England.
You will need:
– Registration with Social Work England.
– A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures.
– Knowledge of Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
– An understanding of safeguarding risk assessment and referral processes.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– The ability to listen carefully and communicate sensitively with people from different backgrounds.
– A commitment to strengths-based and person-centred social work.
– The ability to assess information, identify concerns and make appropriate professional decisions.
– A willingness to learn, reflect and develop throughout your ASYE year.
