Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Consultant Psychiatrist to join our evolving services during an exciting period of transformation. This post offers the opportunity to provide leadership, clinical oversight, and direct patient care across a range of services, including:
- Inpatient care
- Recovery services
- Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP)
- Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment
- Adult (ageless) community mental health services
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, supporting service development while maintaining high-quality, safe, and effective care for patients with complex mental health needs.

Key responsibilities
Consultants in this post will:
- Lead, supervise, and support teams to deliver recovery-focused, person-centred care
- Manage complex patient caseloads, prioritising individuals with the greatest complexity and severity
- Apply a biopsychosocial approach to assessment, care planning, and intervention
- Engage effectively with carers, ward teams, and other professionals
- Support risk management, safeguarding, and governance processes
- Promote consistent, evidence-based practice and monitor clinical outcomes
- Provide education, supervision, and clinical oversight in MDT and triage meetings
- All clinical work aligns with NHS mental health guidance and professional standards

Person specification
Essential qualifications & approvals:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
- Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register, or within 12 months of CCT in General Adult Psychiatry at the time of interview
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
