About the Role

Aston Law School, part of the School of Law and Social Sciences, is seeking to appoint a Professor of Law to further strengthen our teaching and research portfolio in alignment with our strategic ambitions. This is a key leadership role focused on enhancing our research environment, guiding our future Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions, and shaping the academic development of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in research and scholarship within the department.
  • Foster a thriving and inclusive research culture, supporting the development of early career academics.
  • Contribute to high-quality, innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Secure external research funding and deliver impactful research.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the School of Law and Social Sciences.
  • Champion a collegial, inclusive, and student-focused approach to academic leadership.

About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • An internationally recognised research profile and evidence of research impact.
  • A strong track record of external grant capture.
  • Significant experience in academic leadership and departmental contribution.
  • A commitment to excellent teaching and student experience.
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • The ability to work across disciplines and build academic partnerships.

All areas of legal expertise will be considered.
