International Fellowship in Older Adult Psychiatry
Location: Barrow in Furness
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new role designed for experienced psychiatrists seeking GMC Specialist Registration through the portfolio pathway. This position in Older Adult Community Psychiatry will be based at Dane Garth in Barrow in Furness.

Role Details:

Fixed term: 3 years

Visa sponsorship: A Certificate of Sponsorship is available for those requiring a Skilled Worker Visa to work in the UK.

GMC Sponsorship: This role is eligible for GMC registration sponsorship, subject to meeting the minimum criteria outlined in the Person Specification. Please ensure you meet these criteria before applying, as they include, but are not limited to, completing IELTs/OET to the required standard and having practiced as a psychiatrist for at least 3 of the past 5 years.

This exciting opportunity will provide hands-on experience within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), as well as other teams aligned with older adult mental health services in the Bay area. Your responsibilities will include assessing new patient referrals, providing care and treatment, and managing referrals to other local services.

As part of your development, you will be supported in working towards Section 12 approval, with the potential to join the Out of Hours On-Call rota upon approval, receiving additional remuneration.

Salary:
The salary will be based on the Specialty Doctor payscale (MC75), with your starting salary determined by your service history in the UK or overseas.

Work Hours:
The role is full-time, with 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week (equivalent to 40 hours per week).

8 PAs will be dedicated to clinical responsibilities.

2 PAs will be allocated for professional development activities.

Support & Development:
We have a strong reputation for supporting international doctors in their journey to Specialist Registration. You will have access to various groups within the Trust that connect doctors who are working towards this goal.

Our Medical Recruitment and Relationship team will assist with the recruitment process and provide support if you are relocating to the UK. Although the Trust does not offer hospital accommodation, the Relationship Team can advise you on available housing options.
