About the Role

The University of Sussex is recruiting a Research Communications & Events Officer to support the ESRC-funded Centre for Digital Futures at Work (Digit).

Digit is a collaborative research initiative exploring how digital technologies are transforming the workplace—from artificial intelligence to flexible working and digital skills.

In this role, you’ll be at the centre of the project’s outreach and engagement work. Your contribution will ensure that research findings are communicated effectively to policymakers, businesses, trade unions, and the wider public.

 What You’ll Do

  • You’ll play a key role in increasing the visibility and impact of the Centre’s research by:
  • Creating engaging content for websites, newsletters, and social media
  • Translating complex academic research into accessible, user-friendly formats
  • Organising and delivering events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences
  • Supporting the production of reports, briefings, and publications
  • Working closely with researchers and external partners to promote research impact
  • This is a varied and creative role, ideal for someone who enjoys both communication and event coordination.

You’re a confident communicator who can turn complex ideas into clear and engaging content.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience managing websites or social media content
  • Ability to simplify technical or academic material for wider audiences
  • Event planning and coordination experience

  • Well-organised and able to manage multiple projects
  • Flexible and proactive in your approach
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
