About the Role

We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) in Museum Studies to join the MA Museum Studies programme on a fixed-term basis.

This role provides teaching cover for Dr Johanna Zetterström-Sharp, who is currently funded by the Leverhulme Trust for the research project Collections, Conviviality, Culture Wars: UK Postcolonial Redress 1997–Present.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Deliver core modules on the MA Museum Studies programme.
  • Supervise postgraduate dissertations.
  • Support teaching and marking across the programme.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate and deliver an undergraduate option module based in UCL Anthropology.
  • Participate in curriculum preparation, student support, assessment, and related academic duties.
  • This is a full-time position (36.5 hours per week) and includes all preparation, teaching delivery, assessment, and academic administration.

About You

We are looking for an academic with:

  • A PhD in Museum Studies, Heritage Studies, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, or a closely related discipline.
  • A clear research or professional interest in museums and heritage.
  • Active professional networks within the UK museum sector.
  • An interest in areas such as restitution, colonial legacies, postcolonial redress, and reparative justice (desirable).
  • Experience teaching in higher education and supporting postgraduate research.
  • Strong communication skills, collaborative working ability, and a commitment to inclusive teaching are essential.
