The Role at a Glance
You will:
- Manage a diverse caseload of older adults with complex mental health needs
- Work across inpatient wards and outpatient/community services
- Provide medical input as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Deliver care under the supervision of a senior Consultant Psychiatrist
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Respond to occasional urgent or emergency clinical situations where required
- This position spans the breadth of secondary mental health care, offering exposure to a wide range of psychiatric presentations within older populations.

About You
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised primary medical degree
- Full registration with a licence to practise from the General Medical Council
- GMC registration guidance
- Minimum of four years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent experience), including at least two years in a relevant specialty training programme
- Previous experience working in psychiatry
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong clinical knowledge in psychiatry
- Ability to apply a biopsychosocial model to complex presentations
- Confident decision-making grounded in clinical evidence
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to meet responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Mental Health Act Code of Practice
- Mental Capacity Act guidance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Confidence managing clinical complexity and uncertainty

- MRCPsych
- Section 12(2) approval
- Experience in crisis, community, inpatient or liaison psychiatry settings
