Are you a motivated and organised Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) seeking an acute inpatient role? Join the Adult SLT team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) for a 12-month maternity cover opportunity. You will provide specialist care for patients with communication disorders and dysphagia across multiple wards, contributing to improved patient outcomes and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and manage SLT inpatients across a variety of wards at two hospital sites.
  • Support the Clinical Team Lead in operational management of the inpatient SLT service.
  • Provide training and education to the wider MDT and supervise SLT students.
  • Participate in service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using electronic systems and uphold data confidentiality.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • BSc/MSc in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Valid HCPC registration

Membership of RCSLT

  • Dysphagia competencies and evidence of ongoing CPD
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in adult dysphagia and communication disorders
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, work independently, and manage a varied caseload

Desirable Skills:

  • Leadership/management or mentorship experience
  • Head & Neck or Tracheostomy competencies
  • Experience supervising SLT students and coordinating services across multiple sites

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong MDT collaboration and clinical decision-making
  • Organisational and time-management skills with flexibility to meet service needs
  • Demonstrated ability to support staff development and service improvement
