About the Role
Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for a dedicated and adaptable Senior Nurse to join our Out-of-Hours (OOH) team. This role is perfect for a professional who wants to deliver high-quality patient care while balancing flexible working hours.
As a Senior Nurse, you will coordinate and oversee clinical care for patients across Leeds during evenings, including bank holidays. You will manage incoming calls, triage patient needs, allocate tasks, and ensure safe and effective care delivery. While some direct patient care will be required, your main responsibility will involve clinical triage via telephone and service coordination.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced role requiring excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to make quick decisions while motivating your team.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership to the OOH team, including line management of Band 5 Staff Nurses and Band 3 Nursing Assistants.
- Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care, ensuring high-quality outcomes for complex patients.
- Coordinate care across the city of Leeds, re-allocating resources to cover staff absences or unexpected demand.
- Maintain accurate records, follow Trust policies, and adhere to national healthcare standards.
- Support the professional development of junior staff, offering guidance, supervision, and mentorship.
- Respond to clinical queries and patient needs efficiently, balancing multiple priorities.
- Safeguarding guidance for adults and children

Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration
- Proven ability in clinical assessment, planning, and evaluation
- Experience coordinating care for complex patients
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams
- Excellent IT, organisational, and communication skills
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle suitable for citywide travel
Desirable:
- Experience in Out-of-Hours nursing or community-based services
- Exposure to clinical triage, call management, or multidisciplinary coordination
- Professional registration and development
Working Hours and Flexibility
- The role requires evening shifts: 17:00 – 22:00, 2–6 evenings per week
- Flexible working arrangements can be discussed prior to application or interview
- Travel across Leeds during shifts is expected to deliver patient care
