About the Opportunity
Donnington Medical Practice is inviting applications from enthusiastic and committed General Practitioners who wish to join a well-established and progressive primary care team in North Telford.
The practice serves approximately 14,500 registered patients and provides high-quality, patient-centred healthcare within a busy yet supportive environment. The role offers a balanced clinical workload supported by sustainable working models, enabling doctors to deliver safe and effective care while maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
This opportunity is suitable for GPs at any stage of their career, including newly qualified doctors completing vocational training. Mentoring and structured support are available, alongside opportunities to develop specialist clinical interests.
About the Practice
Donnington Medical Practice is a General Medical Services (GMS) training practice with a strong reputation for clinical education and professional development.
The multidisciplinary team includes:
- 4 GP Partners
- 4 Salaried GPs
- 2 GP Registrars
A nursing team of four including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Healthcare Assistants
Administrative and patient support teams
The practice uses modern clinical systems including EMIS Web and Docman 10, supporting efficient digital record management and patient care coordination.
The practice consistently achieves strong Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) results while exploring innovative ways of delivering primary care services.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide face-to-face and telephone consultations for registered patients.
- Assess and manage patients presenting with acute, chronic or undiagnosed conditions.
- Develop patient-centred care plans aligned with current clinical guidelines.
- Identify risk factors and provide preventative health advice.
Patient Management
- Conduct home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Prescribe medications safely using the practice formulary and national prescribing guidance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the electronic clinical system.
Professional Practice
- Work autonomously while collaborating with the wider healthcare team.
- Participate in clinical audits, governance activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to training and education within the practice where appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities
The postholder will also:
- Comply with practice policies relating to confidentiality, prescribing and safeguarding.
- Maintain strict standards of information governance and patient data protection.
- Participate in infection prevention and health & safety procedures within the clinical environment.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and effective healthcare setting.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- Primary medical qualification such as MBBS or equivalent
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Inclusion on the National Medical Performers List
- Evidence of revalidation and ongoing professional development
Skills and Experience
- Ability to manage a broad range of conditions within primary care
- Strong communication and patient consultation skills
- Commitment to collaborative working and high-quality care
Compliance and Pre-Employment Checks
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 exceptions for healthcare roles.
Applicants requiring sponsorship must meet the requirements for the **UK Skilled Worker visa.
International applicants may also be required to provide criminal record certificates for countries where they have lived for more than 12 months within the previous ten years.
