Role Overview
George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an organised and proactive Resourcing Advisor to join the People & Workforce team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
This position plays a central role in ensuring the Trust recruits the talented professionals who support patient care across the organisation. The successful candidate will oversee recruitment activities from vacancy approval through to appointment and onboarding, ensuring the process is efficient, compliant, and supportive for both candidates and hiring managers.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Delivery
You will coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes across Agenda for Change and Medical staff groups by:
- Supporting managers with vacancy approvals and advertising strategies
- Managing shortlisting, interview scheduling, and offer processes
- Ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout recruitment
- Providing guidance on NHS employment terms, pay scales, and recruitment procedures
- NHS recruitment and employment processes can be explored through
Candidate Attraction and Workforce Planning
A key part of the role involves strengthening recruitment outcomes by:
- Identifying ways to attract high-quality applicants to Trust vacancies
- Participating in careers events and recruitment campaigns
- Working with managers to understand workforce needs and recruitment challenges
- Contributing to the Trust’s annual recruitment planning activities
Compliance and Pre-Employment Checks
You will oversee essential pre-employment requirements, ensuring compliance with national standards. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
- Managing visa and right-to-work verification
- Organising occupational health and medical clearance checks
- Maintaining accurate records within HR systems
Medical Recruitment Coordination
The role also includes supporting specialist recruitment processes, including:
- Junior doctor recruitment cycles and rotations
- Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) panels for consultant recruitment
- Liaising with clinical leads and training bodies to coordinate recruitment campaigns
HR Systems and Data Management
You will regularly work with digital HR platforms, including:
- Trac (Applicant Tracking System)
- Electronic Staff Record (ESR)
- NHS Jobs
Key duties include:
- Maintaining accurate candidate and staff records
- Monitoring recruitment dashboards to identify delays
- Supporting reporting on recruitment performance indicators
Visa Sponsorship and Immigration Compliance
Where international candidates are recruited, you will assess visa eligibility and coordinate sponsorship processes in accordance with UK immigration rules.

You may also use the Sponsor Management System (SMS) to manage Certificates of Sponsorship.
Payroll and Data Accuracy
Working closely with payroll teams, you will:
- Ensure new starter information is submitted accurately and on time
- Resolve complex pay queries relating to employment contracts
- Maintain secure and confidential handling of payroll data
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding payment corrections or adjustments
- Guidance on employment rights and pay information is available
Training and Team Support
The Resourcing Advisor also contributes to team development by:
- Delivering training sessions on recruitment systems and processes
- Providing guidance to Resourcing Assistants
- Creating and updating standard operating procedures
- Supporting continuous improvements within recruitment services

Essential Criteria
Experience and Knowledge
Applicants should demonstrate:
- At least 12 months’ experience in recruitment administration, ideally within a large organisation
- Familiarity with HR systems such as ESR, NHS Jobs, or DBS platforms
- Understanding of data protection requirements under General Data Protection Regulation
- Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion within recruitment processes
- Experience handling complex payroll queries
- Knowledge of visa sponsorship and Certificate of Sponsorship processes
Skills
Successful candidates will have:
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confidence working with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to analyse recruitment data and identify process improvements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Diploma-level education or equivalent experience within HR, recruitment, or workforce administration
Desirable qualifications include:
- CIPD membership or equivalent HR certification
- Project management experience or training
Additional Requirements
The role may require:
- Occasional travel to recruitment events or meetings
- Attendance at evening or weekend recruitment activities
- A mixture of on-site and occasional remote working
Safeguarding and Compliance
This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to the nature of the work within the NHS.
International applicants may also need to provide criminal record certificates from countries where they have lived for 12 months or more within the past decade.
