About the Role

The University of Sussex is seeking a Research Communications & Events Officer to support the work of the ESRC Centre for Digital Futures at Work (Digit).

Digit explores how emerging digital technologies are transforming workplaces and employment practices. Its research provides valuable insights that support policy development, business strategy, labour organisations, and wider society.

In this role, you will help ensure that the Centre’s research findings reach a wide audience. Your work will involve producing engaging communications materials, organising events, and supporting researchers in sharing their findings with policymakers, organisations, and the public.

Over the next four years, your work will contribute to increasing the visibility and influence of research on topics such as:

  • Artificial intelligence in the workplace
  • Digital skills development
  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • The future of work in the digital economy

Key Responsibilities

Research Communication

  • Develop and publish engaging content for websites and social media channels
  • Translate complex research findings into accessible material for non-academic audiences
  • Assist in preparing reports, policy briefings, and communication outputs

Event Coordination

  • Plan and organise internal and external events, including workshops, seminars, and conferences
  • Coordinate logistics, communications, and event promotion
  • Support researchers in delivering impactful public engagement activities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with researchers and partners to promote research findings
  • Help maintain relationships with external stakeholders and policy communities
  • Contribute to activities that strengthen the Centre’s reputation and impact

Collaborative Working Environment

The successful candidate will join the Professional Services team within the University of Sussex Business School.

About You

Eligibility and Work Requirements
