About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The ICU is an 8-bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit (ICU/HDU) that cares for Level 2 and Level 3 critically ill patients across a range of clinical specialties. This role offers a rewarding environment where nurses can develop specialist critical care skills while delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
Applications are welcome from both newly qualified nurses and experienced practitioners. Although previous ICU experience would be beneficial, comprehensive training and support are provided to help you develop the required skills.

Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Nurse in the ICU, you will play an essential role in delivering specialised care for critically ill patients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct care for Level 2 and Level 3 patients requiring critical monitoring and treatment
- Monitoring patient conditions and responding to clinical changes
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, therapists, and support staff
- Supporting families and carers with clear communication and compassionate care
- Maintaining accurate patient documentation and adhering to clinical governance standards
- Participating in a 24-hour rota system including nights, weekends, and bank holidays

Essential Requirements
Candidates applying for this role should meet the following criteria:
Registered Nurse qualification
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Strong commitment to professional learning and patient safety
