About the Opportunity
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a friendly and organised Receptionist / Clerical Officer to join the Integrated Sexual Health Service based at King’s Mill Hospital.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people and wants to contribute to a healthcare environment that supports patient wellbeing. As the first point of contact for individuals accessing sexual health services, you will play an important role in ensuring that patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
The successful candidate will work across multiple service locations, helping to ensure that administrative and reception duties are delivered efficiently while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
The Receptionist / Clerical Officer will support the smooth running of the sexual health service by providing high-quality administrative and reception support.
Front-of-House Support
- Welcome patients attending the clinic and provide a friendly and professional first point of contact.
- Assist clients with queries regarding appointments or clinic services.
Administrative Duties
- Manage appointment bookings and maintain accurate patient records using NHS systems.
- Handle incoming calls and direct enquiries appropriately.
Patient Service and Support
- Ensure patients receive clear information about clinic procedures and services.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive health information.
Service Improvement
- Support service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the efficient operation of the clinic.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Basic computer literacy and keyboard skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Capability to remain calm and organised in busy environments
Desirable
The following experience would be beneficial:
- Familiarity with NHS services or healthcare environments
- Good listening and problem-solving skills
- Experience in administrative or customer service roles
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- A good standard of general education
Training Requirements
- Successful candidates will receive training on IT systems used within the service.
- Mandatory training will be provided in accordance with Trust policies.

- Experience working in a patient-focused healthcare setting
Working Requirements
- The role requires flexibility and the ability to support services across multiple locations.
Applicants must be able to:
- Travel between clinical sites when required
- Work flexible hours depending on service needs
- Support a seven-day service provision if necessary
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Trust policies
