Role Overview:
The Department of Sociology and Policy within the School of Law and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Professor of Criminology to further enhance our research and teaching capabilities. This role will provide strategic leadership in research and scholarship within the Department, driving the development of both our undergraduate and postgraduate Criminology programmes. This appointment will also help advance our excellent performance at REF2021. We invite applications from individuals with a strong track record in teaching and research across the diverse specialisms and methodologies within Criminology.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic development of research and scholarship within Criminology, contributing to the Department’s growth and academic reputation.
Expand and further develop our Criminology programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for early career researchers, while supporting academic leadership and management.
Deliver outstanding and innovative teaching that prioritizes student experience.
Contribute to the development and submission of external grant applications, with an emphasis on impact.
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, both within and beyond the School of Law and Social Sciences at Aston University.
We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in digital or environmental crime, though all subject specialisms within Criminology will be considered.

An established international research profile and a proven track record in securing external grants or demonstrating impact.
Experience in academic leadership, management, and fostering collegiality.
