An established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is expanding its Leeds team and is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Geotechnical Consultant Engineer. Our client is an independent engineering and consultancy group with more than five decades of experience delivering infrastructure, environmental, energy, and urban development solutions. Their work spans the full project lifecycle—from early concept and feasibility through to delivery, commissioning, and operational support.

- The Leeds office is growing steadily and collaborates closely with specialist teams across the UK and internationally.
 The Role
You will join the geotechnical team at Senior or Principal level, taking responsibility for the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions on a diverse project portfolio. While offshore project exposure is beneficial, it is not essential.
This is a hands-on technical role with the opportunity to:
- Influence design decisions
- Support and mentor junior engineers
- Progress into team leadership over time
 Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality geotechnical designs for complex infrastructure and construction projects
- Lead or contribute to foundation and ground engineering design, including temporary and permanent works
- Provide technical input across feasibility, design, and construction stages
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas
- Support business growth through technical excellence and client engagement
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, guidance, and best practice
 About You
You will be a motivated geotechnical professional with strong technical capability and the ambition to take on greater responsibility.
Essential Experience
- Typically 5–10 years’ relevant geotechnical or civil engineering experience
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
- Strong independent working capability with leadership aspirations
- Proven experience in geotechnical design and analysis
Desirable Technical Background
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Pile design in Chalk and Glacial Till
- Offshore geotechnical design (wind farms, ports, marine structures)
- Rail infrastructure, including depots and stations
- Embankments and cuttings
- Ground treatment and improvement techniques
