On-Call Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal(UK Visa Sponsorship)

Uk
January 29, 2026

Job Description

We’re relaunching and developing our small animal emergency service in Moray, and we’re looking for a veterinary surgeon who is calm under pressure, comfortable working independently, and motivated by delivering vital care when it matters most. You’ll be joining us at an exciting point, helping to shape how this service grows while enjoying a rota that genuinely prioritises recovery time and wellbeing.

The Role in Practice

This position is ideal for a vet who enjoys emergency and critical decision-making and is confident managing cases either on site or on-call from home. During your working week, you’ll provide overnight and weekend emergency cover, supporting both our clients and local daytime practices.

Rota pattern (default):

  • One week on, three weeks off
  • Monday–Thursday: 6pm – 8am
  • Friday 6pm – Monday 8am
  • No expected calls between 8am–12pm Saturday, as this time is covered by the practice

If you live locally, you can remain at home while on call. If you’re relocating or travelling, we provide comfortable accommodation so your working week is straightforward and stress-free.

We’re also happy to discuss a one-week-on, one-week-off option, with salary adjusted accordingly.

Why This Role Is Different

Emergency work can be intense — we get that. That’s why this role is designed to give you meaningful clinical responsibility without burnout. You’ll have extended time off to recharge, pursue interests, spend time with family, or travel, while still maintaining your clinical confidence and skills.

You’ll also play a key role in supporting the wider Moray veterinary community, helping ensure pets have access to essential care when regular practices are closed.

Salary & Relocation Support

  • Salary up to £31,000 DOE (based on one-week-on, three-weeks-off rota)
  • Up to £7,500 relocation allowance
  • Accommodation provided during working weeks
  • Visa sponsorship available for eligible overseas candidates
