About the Role
Dowty is seeking an experienced and dynamic NPI Value Stream Leader to drive the future of our propeller programs. This is a senior leadership position, offering the chance to lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and shape how we deliver cutting-edge aerospace solutions.
As the NPI Value Stream Leader, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of new product programs, from inception through production and aftermarket support, ensuring alignment with internal and customer requirements. Your leadership will be critical to building cohesive teams, integrating processes, and delivering business impact while embedding Lean and Flight Deck principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the NPI project and program management team.
- Take functional ownership of NPI programs, including resources, budgets, and P&L accountability.
- Secure funding for NPI programs from government initiatives and customers.
- Design, implement, and maintain processes for scheduling, cost, resource, risk, change, and opportunity management within the NPI toll gate phases.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer escalations or critical communications.
- Facilitate internal communications across monthly NPI reviews and operating reviews with Dowty and GE senior management.
- Oversee program transition from NPI to production and aftermarket, meeting required TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) standards.
- Participate in new bid proposals and negotiations, developing and strengthening customer relationships in line with Dowty’s strategic roadmap.
- Support special projects and act as project manager for unallocated programs when needed.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Extensive experience in aerospace program management or PMO leadership.
- Degree-level qualification, preferably STEM-related.
- Certification in PMP, APM, or PRINCE2.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Strong leadership, communication, and integration skills.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally to support project partners.
Desirable:
- Experience with New Product Development (NPI) processes.
- Practical knowledge of Lean management systems.
- Strong business acumen and contract knowledge.
- Proven ability to coach teams across business functions, global teams, and other GE divisions.
- Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
