About the Role
Animal Trust is expanding its Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team at our brand-new 24/7 hospital in Stockton-on-Tees. We are seeking a dedicated Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian to join our collaborative team, working alongside qualified veterinary nurses to provide high-quality medical and surgical care to pets in need.
You will manage a diverse ECC caseload, oversee inpatient care, and collaborate with our network of 24-hour hospitals, ensuring expert support is always available. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical expertise while contributing to a socially-driven mission of accessible veterinary care.
Our Facilities
- Nine consulting rooms and three fully equipped operating theatres
- Dedicated diagnostic suite including digital X-ray and dental suite
- Separate cat and dog wards for low-stress patient care
- Isolation unit for infectious cases

- Our facility is designed to deliver first-opinion care, referrals, and out-of-hours emergency services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency and critical care services, including medical and surgical interventions.
- Oversee inpatient treatment and monitor recovery.
- Work collaboratively with the day team and other 24-hour hospitals for consultation and support.
- Participate in training and mentorship to support team growth.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to RCVS regulations.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
Person Specification
- Strong interest and experience in Emergency & Critical Care (ECC).
- Passion for providing affordable veterinary care in alignment with our mission.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, varied caseload environment.
- Empathetic approach to both pets and owners.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a 24/7 veterinary hospital or OOH service.
- Interest in professional development and CPD engagement.
Rota & Working Pattern
- Standard rota: 7:14 (7 days on, 14 days off)
- Flexible working patterns may be considered for suitable candidates.
