About the Opportunity
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications from motivated and compassionate Midwifery Practitioners to join its community midwifery service.
Based primarily at King’s Mill Hospital, the successful candidate will support families across the communities of Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, and Sherwood. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based maternity care to women throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

Key Responsibilities
As a Community Midwife, you will provide comprehensive maternity care and support women through every stage of their pregnancy journey. Responsibilities include:
- Delivering antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for women in community settings
- Supporting both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies
- Conducting home visits, clinics, and community-based assessments
- Providing education and guidance to women and families on pregnancy, birth, and newborn care
- Collaborating with hospital maternity teams and other healthcare professionals
- Ensuring clinical decisions are guided by evidence-based practice and safety standards
- Maintaining accurate patient records and contributing to clinical governance processes
- Guidance on maternity services within the NHS
Working Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- Flexible rota including on-call night shifts
- Community-based working across Mansfield, Sherwood, Ashfield, and Newark
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Registered Midwife qualification
- Diploma or degree in Midwifery (or equivalent)
- Current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- At least two years of post-registration midwifery experience
- Information about registering as a midwife in the UK is available
Desirable Skills and Training
The Trust welcomes candidates who have additional professional development such as:
- Neonatal Life Support (NLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) training
- PROMPT maternity emergency training
- NIPE (Newborn and Infant Physical Examination) qualification
- Leadership or mentoring training
- Experience working across a range of maternity settings
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience supporting vulnerable families is also beneficial.
