Registered Mental Health Nurse (Band 5) – Psychiatric Intensive Care

​The Role: Impact and Responsibilities
​In this role, you aren’t just monitoring patients; you are an architect of recovery. You will work within a high-functioning Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to support adults (ages 18–65) during the most acute phases of their mental health journeys.
​
Key Clinical Duties:
​
Assessment & Planning: Design, implement, and evaluate bespoke care programmes based on diagnostic reasoning.
​Direct Care: Deliver high-quality nursing interventions to achieve the best possible health outcomes for patients and their families.
​Leadership: Supervise junior staff and students, ensuring clinical standards are met across the ward.
​Advocacy: Act as a safeguard for patient rights under the Mental Health Act 1983.
​
Discharge Coordination: Facilitate seamless transitions back into the community or lower-intensity care settings.
​

Requirements:
​
- Registration: Current UK professional registration (RMN, RNLD, or Adult Nurse).
​ - Education: Evidence of ongoing Professional Development (CPD).

​ - Clearance: This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Employment Details & Benefits

- Salary: £31,049 – £37,796 per annum (Agenda for Change Band 5).
​ - Contract: Permanent, with Full-Time, Part-Time, and Flexible Working options available.
​ - Location: The Orchards, St James’ Hospital, Portsmouth.
​ - Support for International Applicants: We welcome applications requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship (subject to UKVI criminal record certificate requirements).
