Contribute to Excellence in Pharmacy Education

The School of Pharmacy at the University of Reading invites applications for a Lecturer in Pharmacology and Therapeutics. This is a teaching-focused appointment designed to strengthen delivery across our core professional and biomedical programmes.

You will join a collaborative academic team committed to developing future pharmacists, pharmacologists, and healthcare professionals through rigorous scientific training and applied clinical understanding.

The Role

This position centres on high-quality teaching and student support. The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical teaching in pharmacology and therapeutics.
  • Contribute to undergraduate MPharm, BSc Pharmacology, and MPAS (Physician Associate Studies) programmes.
  • Convene modules and coordinate assessments, including coursework and examinations.
  • Provide academic tutoring and pastoral support to students.
  • Participate in student recruitment and outreach activities.
  • Contribute to administrative and academic citizenship duties within the School.
  • Engage in relevant professional development opportunities.

Interviews are expected to take place in person. Where attendance is not feasible (including for overseas applicants), online arrangements will be available.

About You

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A PhD in Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent clinical qualification.
  • Experience of delivering teaching and assessment at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in pharmacology, biology, or medical sciences.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary academic team.
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching practice and student success.
