Job Description

Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical Power Products
GE Aerospace

Be part of building the future of flight

Join our team as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer and play a key role in how we produce the electrical power systems that power both commercial and military aircraft. You’ll help drive smarter, more efficient, and ultra-reliable manufacturing processes that keep our products safe, compliant, and competitive.

What You will Do

In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll take ownership of our manufacturing processes for electrical power products from start to finish. Your work will focus on creating efficient, high-quality production environments and ensuring everything we build meets the strictest aerospace standards.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Process ownership and optimization — Lead the definition, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for our electrical power products.
  • Production setup and lean design — Provide technical guidance on production cell layouts, line balancing, and workflow design. Ensure setups follow lean principles with smooth material flow, robust FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection where required.
  • Documentation and standards — Act as the technical authority for work instructions, routings, and standard operating procedures. Create clear, compliant documentation and keep it up-to-date as designs evolve or improvements are made.
  • Tooling and test equipment — Design, specify, and validate custom fixtures, jigs, and test setups to guarantee repeatable, traceable, and first-time-right builds.
  • Safety and compliance — Embed EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements, FOD/ESD controls, and safe handling practices for aerospace-grade materials into every process you design or manage.
  • Continuous improvement — Spearhead projects that slash scrap and rework while supporting design-to-cost goals—always without compromising airworthiness, certification, or regulatory standards.
  • Problem resolution — Serve as the go-to expert when manufacturing challenges arise. Lead root-cause investigations (especially for issues tied to flight safety, reliability, or certification), apply structured problem-solving tools and aerospace process controls, and support both internal and external audits.
  • Team development — Mentor and train the Power Manufacturing Engineering team (and shop-floor staff) on new processes, best documentation practices, and the real-world impact their work has on quality and airworthiness. Help build a culture focused on delivering safer, better products on time and at the right cost.

What we’re looking for

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent proven experience).
  • Solid hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing or shop-floor environment.
  • Strong communication skills — confident in writing clearly, speaking persuasively, and presenting to leadership, auditors, customers, or cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to influence decisions across engineering, quality, operations, and other functions.
  • Comfortable representing manufacturing in reviews, discussions, and customer interactions.
  • Skilled at tackling complex, multi-departmental problems involving safety, quality, and cost.
  • Strong project planning and organization abilities.

Nice-to-have qualities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Natural leadership and interpersonal strengths — able to coach, develop, and inspire individuals and mid-sized teams.
  • Track record of successfully influencing others without formal authority.
  • Experience juggling multiple projects at once.
  • Sharp problem-identification and resolution capabilities.
